Before collecting personal information from you we will explain to you the purpose of collecting it. Moreover, we will only collect, retain, use and disclose your personal information with your permission, except where otherwise permitted or required by law, and will do so only to the extent that this is necessary to carry out the functions of Stacker services. Personal information not needed for the carrying out of these functions will not be collected. Consent may be either implied or explicit. You may withdraw your consent to collect, use and disclose your personal information at any time, subject to legal and contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Please note, however, that withdrawing your consent will affect our ability to provide you with the benefits of Stacker services. Limiting Collection and Personal Information Our collection of personal information is limited to what is necessary and reasonable to provide an effective service. The information will be used only for the purposes for which it is collected.
Data is retained only for the period of time necessary for performing the services offered to you by Stacker, including updating the product or services as required by law, and for a reasonable length of time thereafter, in case we need to meet any potential obligations or legal or governmental requirements. When we destroy personal information, we will use safeguards to prevent unauthorized parties from gaining access to the information during the process.
We will collect your personal information in order to verify your identity and adhere to applicable laws and regulations.
Information will be shared among users and with third parties associated with Stacker only on an “as needed” basis. Any information shared with service providers will be done so on the condition that they will use and retain such information only for the specific purpose for which they are engaged by Stacker. Service Providers are required to protect the confidentiality of your personal information in a manner consistent with our own internal measures, or as required by law. For example, information gathered during the verification process is used to verify the users identity as required by Canadian and US anti money laundering laws and regulations. We will not sell your personal information. We will not disclose it to third parties without your knowledge or permission, except in special circumstances, such as during a fraud investigation or in situations otherwise permitted by law. We will strive to ensure that the personal information we have on file for you is accurate and up-to-date as is necessary for the purposes for which it is to be used. If any information needs to be updated or amended, we will make every effort to change our records, and will endeavor to advise other parties having access to the information in question.
You have the right to ask whether we hold any personal information about you and to see that information, as provided by law. If you believe any of the information we have collected about you is incorrect or incomplete, you have the right to ask us to change it. Please make your request to Stacker’s Privacy Officer email@example.com, stating as specifically as possible which personal information you are requesting. We will try to respond to your request as soon as possible and will advise you if for some reason we cannot respond right away. Under certain circumstances, we have the right to refuse your request for access to personal information.
You may register a privacy-related complaint by contacting Stacker’s Privacy Officer firstname.lastname@example.org. We will explain our complaints process to you and will investigate all complaints. If a complaint is justified, we will take all necessary steps to set the situation right, including changing our policies and practices if necessary. We will also let you know what other complaint procedures may be available to you.
